“All that is dear to me and everyone I love
are of the nature to change.” (Five Remembrances)
What is the nature of existence? For the next set of Mud Lotus Sunday sessions, we will explore and experiment with the short list of observations about reality that form the core of Buddhist philosophy: impermanence, no-self, interdependent arising, and karma. At the next session, Sara will lead meditation as an experiential reflection on the nature of impermanence, followed by a discussion.
Because of impermanence death is inevitable. Yet, also because of impermanence birth is possible. Observing the flow of joy and pain, stillness and motion, arising and letting go, we can come into contact with the only thing that stays constant in all this flux: the experience of being alive. When letting go of the past, we are making way for becoming.
